UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

World Alzheimer’s Day
Alzheimer's organisations around the world concentrate their efforts on raising awareness about Alzheimer's and dementia on this day. Every 68 seconds, someone develops Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia, a general term for memory loss and other intellectual abilities serious enough to interfere with daily life.

National Month of Deaf People
September is the International Month for Deaf People in commemoration of the first World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf which took place in September 1951.The Deaf Federation of South Africa (DeafSA) and the South African National Deaf Association (SANDA) both promote awareness of the rights of Deaf persons in South Africa.
Albinism Awareness Month
September is Albinism Awareness Month. During this month Government provides information on albinism to make people more aware of what this condition is about. The international non-governmental organisation, NOAH, notes that "although there are many people with albinism who are at peace with the term albino, when dealing with any condition, it's is best to put the person first.
