The Miss Wheelchair South Africa is created with the aim to change the perception, the narrative and image of disabled women in South Africa. The founder of Miss Wheelchair South Africa is Lebohang Monyatsi, 1st princess of Miss Wheelchair World 2017.

Ten women will be part of the final of this exceptional competition. These women will not only present their beauty, charm and personality but they will also promote their respective Province. The winner will then travel to Mexico to represent South Africa at Miss Wheelchair World in October 2022 and serve as a tourism ambassador.

Meet the Judges

Marlene le Roux

Marlene le Roux is a South African disability and women’s rights activist. She is co-founder of the Women’s Achievement Network for Disability, and CEO of the Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town.

Lebohang Monyatsi

South Africa’s first woman in a wheelchair to be a runway model. Lebohang was born and raised in North West Province, in a small town called Vryburg.

She is recognized for representing her country in the field of Wheelchair Basketball. Lebohang is extremely passionate about the needs of children, disability inclusion and accessible features for all.

Nadine Mckenzie

Mckenzie is a qualified integrated dance teacher, receiving training at the ImpulsTanz International Workshop in Vienna 2010. She joined Remix Dance Company (2006) and she had produced exceptional work as a performer on a wheelchair/teacher and has established herself as a well-recognised figure within the performing arts community both nationally and internationally. 

Ahneesh Valodia

Artist director and founder of Taare and choreographer. Bolywood dancer. Taare is a dance academy located in Cape Town.

Chimwemwe Kamkambwa

Chimwemwe Kamkwamba, has been crowned Miss Deaf Africa, during the pageant that took place at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles (ICCS).

Karen Smit

Advocate for the digital inclusion of disabled and elderly persons. She  has established herself as a global industry expert in accessible information communication technology.

Terry Fortune

Musical icon Terry Fortune was recently honoured with the kykNET Fiëstas Legend award for his outstanding performances and immense contribution to the music industry.
